This is the remote control for Nikon DSLR. The top one is wireless remote with battery and the bottom is wire control. It is a must to use a tripod when you wanted to use the remote control. The remote control helps to avoid hand shake problem. Photographers normally use the remote control to take night portrait.

For me the wireless remote control is really useful to me when i hang out and take photo with my friends. why? because the photographer can also be include into the photo.

The Nikon website is helpful when you want to find out information about Nikon products. When a user clicks on a product that he/she interested, there is a "Compare the Product" function on the right side. By using the function, user can select other product to make comparison.
